Francisco Rosende is the Dean of the School of Economics and Business Administration at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (PUC). He is also the editor of the book "La Escuela de Chicago: Ensayos en Honor a Arnold C.Harberger published in 2007.
Mr. Rosende graduated as a Commercial Engineer at the University of Chile in 1979 and obtained the degree of Master in Economics at the University of Chicago in 1983.
He was the Research Manager of the Central Bank of Chile between 1985 and 1990. Between 1999 and 2001, Mr. Rosende was a member of the Antitrust Commission, a five people jury that evaluates monopoly practices in the Chilean economy.
Mr. Rosende has been professor of the Department of Economics of PUC since 1984. He currently teaches the first graduate course of Macroeconomics. He has also taught undergraduate courses in macroeconomics and monetary economics.
He took office as Dean of the School of Economics and Business Administration in May, 1995. Currently he is performing his fifth term.
Since 1997, Mr.Rosende writes a monthly article for the economic section of the Chilean newspaper, "El Mercurio". Mr. Rosende also writes a monthly article for the economic section of the newspaper "El País" from Uruguay.
Mr. Rosende has written about 65 articles in different journals, mainly on monetary policy issues. The last one was published this year in Estudios Públicos. ("The conquest of inflation. A critical review of the literature"). He has also published several books on economics. In 2000 he published the textbook, "Macroeconomic Theory".
